An Israeli airstrike in central Beirut killed 15 and injured 63, causing massive destruction and chaos in the Lebanese capital early Saturday morning.

The assault targeted an eight-storey residential building in the Basta al-Fawqa neighborhood, resulting in significant casualties, as reported by Lebanon's National News Agency. Eyewitness accounts reveal extensive damage to the area, with local media broadcasting images of the destruction.

Israeli occupation forces employed bunker buster bombs, which detonated after penetrating the ground, creating a large crater at the site. The blast, occurring around 4am local time, was powerful enough to rattle buildings across the city, prompting residents to flee their homes.

Following the initial strike, additional attacks were reported in southern Beirut, specifically in the Dahiyeh area, without prior evacuation warnings. This incident marks the fourth Israeli raid in central Beirut within the week, with heightened military activity in the region.

The recent violence has led to a rising death toll in Lebanon, with at least 3,645 dead and over 15,000 injured since October 2023, according to the Lebanon health ministry. In response to the Israeli aggression, Hezbollah's leadership has vowed retaliation, indicating that central Tel Aviv will be targeted.
