A house fire in Huddersfield has resulted in the tragic deaths of an eight-year-old girl and a woman. Additionally, a 10-year-old child is currently hospitalized and in critical condition.
Emergency services responded to a distress call around 02:20 BST on Leeds Road, where firefighters successfully rescued a woman and two children from a residence engulfed in flames. Unfortunately, despite their efforts, the woman and one of the girls later succumbed to their injuries at the hospital, as confirmed by West Yorkshire Police. Authorities are treating the fire as "suspicious," although they currently do not suspect any other individuals to be involved in the incident.

While the investigation is ongoing, he encouraged anyone who may have witnessed anything unusual in the vicinity early that morning to come forward with information.
Residents in the area have described the woman and the children as "nice people," expressing their disbelief and sorrow over the tragic situation. A local woman, who preferred to remain anonymous, shared her feelings: “It’s just so sad. The whole community is gutted. Everyone is feeling it.”
